Mission
“Rates of diagnostic testing and imaging exams are correlated with the supply of the equipment needed to produce these tests.” …. Dartmouth Atlas Project’s data confirming “Roemer’s Law”
“Congress should direct the Secretary to set standards for providers who bill Medicare for performing and/or interpreting diagnostic imaging studies.” ….MedPAC recommendations to Committee on Ways and Means ~ U.S. House of Representatives
“In the sharpest economic downturn that our health system has faced in half a century, many people in medicine don’t see why they have to do the hard work of organizing themselves in ways that reduce waste and improve quality, if it means sacrificing revenue.” ….Atul Gawande, MD ~ The New Yorker
At the very core of Imaging Fusion’s business model is the true desire to help. Time after time, facility after facility, the founders of Imaging Fusion have consistently delivered imaging services at the 5th percentile of expenses and at the 95th percentile of revenues. Imaging Fusion views the value of using standards in imaging management profound. Providing industry standards to their beloved industry is their mission.
In 1999, 55% of imaging costs were spent on compensation (AHRA Productivity Survey). Ten years later, compensation accounts for 65% of our imaging costs. Since salaries have remained linear with inflation rates, this means our inefficiencies have increased 10%, a direct link to operational management. In addition, the same AHRA survey finds for-profit imaging has a 10% higher productivity rate than non-profit imaging facilities. This is another discrepancy directly linked to operational management.
Imaging Fusion performed original research and collected actual salary and supply costs of U.S.A. imaging departments. Over 125 forward-thinking administrators shared their data under the guise of anonymity. The state was the only identifier. Eight outlier data sets were discarded. Private insurers plus Medicare’s reported total imaging dollars corresponds with the data which Imaging Fusion collected. This confirms the credibility of the data.
The original hypothesis of this research was that high-volume facilities were more efficient than low-volume facilities. The hypothesis was discarded. Unfortunately, there was absolutely no correlation between volume and costs. Imaging Fusion found a rural hospital performing less than 10,000 exams per year may be more efficient than a large urban hospital performing 500,000 exams per year, and vice versa. Our consulting engagements and continued research fuels our commitment to providing imaging management standards. In fact, it is our mission.
MISSION STATEMENT ~ Imaging Fusion will be seen as the preeminent company associated with expert data and knowledge, which creates standardized metrics, to emphasize financial and operational viability.
